"Digital Interpretation of the Human Face".

Louis Nidorf, well known digital photographer, will be the featured artist  in December.

Nidorf, a many faceted artist, is also a clinical psychologist and a full professor. His interest in art began with painting. Louis says he was not a very good painter, but it was in painting that he discovered his interest in color. He met a famous New York sculptor and through his friendship became interested in wood carving and clay sculpture. He then began carving timbers, but eventually found that wood was quite perishable.

Nidorf then began teaching at the University of North Carolina. There, he found an interest in welding. His students even raised money to purchase an welding outfit for him. Eventually he used both the metal and wood together to create his three dimensional work. His work has been shown in several San Diego galleries and several are utilized in art in public places.

Nidorf's creativity has also led him into the kitchen, as he also became a cooking chef.

After a move to Pensaquitos where he had a large yard, he became an avid gardener. He became discouraged that the beautiful flowers eventually died, so he took up photography. Eventually he combined the photography with his skills in computers. That combination now is his current media. He is quick to say that the representational images he sometimes begins with with are not the real subject of his work. He asks himself "How can I change this?"

Nidorf's digital photography is well received by juried shows and galleries.

His exhibition will be showing at Brandon Gallery the month of December. His reception will be Saturday, December 6. from 4-6 p.m.
